Ultra Tee was founded by designer Angie Sam in 2012 with the aim of creating beautiful clothes while respecting the environment.
Ultra Tee’s mission is driven by a simple passion: to create desirable, high-quality products that fuse together thoughtful design details with soft hand feel fabrics.
But Angie wanted to create more than plain T-shirts with eco-friendly credentials, so she sought out a method of digital printing that only uses water-based inks. These inks are certified by Confidence In Textile, the world’s leader in health labels.
The brand name was inspired by Latin ‘Ultra’ means ‘beyond’ while ‘Tee’ reflects the core of the brand’s offering.
Ultra Tee uses organic and conventional cotton, recycled polyester and depending on collections, Tencel (fiber made from eucalyptus pulp) as well. For autumn-winter seasons brand offers a great quality cashmere jumpers made in Mongolia.
In-house embroidery facility in London allows the brand to be efficient and to produce on-demande B2B and B2C orders with a very short lead time. For larger quantities Ultra Tee collaborates with their long-term embroidery partner in Reims, France. Digital printing and part of Ultra Tee’s manufacturing are carried out in small/medium run production workshops in the UK, Portugal and France. The brand works as well - depending on seasons - with global partners who respect the rights of the men and women that they employ. Their factories meet safety criteria and are chosen based on their compliance with working conditions requirements.
The embroidery threads used are the highest quality viscose/rayon biodegradable and sustainable yarns, from "Madeira UK". No APO/APE softeners (Alkyl Phenol Oethoxylates/Ethoxylates), which are found in some threads, are used to finish Madeira's threads. All meaning that, following supplier's recommendations, Madeira's dyestuffs are non-toxic to workers, the environment and the end user - before, during and after production. Created with sensitive production processes in the heart of the naturally environmentally conscious Black Forest region in Germany, Madeira's EnviroSystem applies long term commitment to the global impact of environmental issues, second to none. http://www.madeira.co.uk/environment/
Ultra Tee is a member of Plant for the Planet, an environmental foundation, launched in 2017 in Germany (Am Bahnhof 1, 82449 Uffing am Staffelsee). Their target is to plant 1000 billion trees together by the year 2020 to stop climate crisis.
In 2011, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) handed over the long-established Billion Tree Campaign, along with the official world tree counter, to Plant-for-the-Planet.
So far, Plant-for-the-Planet youths have already planted more than 14 billion trees in 193 countries. More than 63,000 children from 58 countries worldwide are already participating.
In Mexico, Plant-for-the-Planet plants a new tree every 15 seconds. This project demonstrates just how easy it is to make planting trees so effective on a large scale. The initiative uses its own products (for example the Change Chocolate) and campaigns (such as "Stop talking. Start planting.”) in order to independently plant trees and motivate others to get involved in planting.
Every time when one of Ultra Tee products is sold, we donate 1€ for planting 1 tree. You can discover Plant for the Planet completed projects and to explore the ongoing ones on the interactive world map.
Everybody can become a Plant-for-the-Planet member and contribute, no matter where you come from or how old you are. Join Plant-for-the-Planet movement!
