Hello! My name is Angie

and I’m the founder of Ultra Tee. First up, a huge thank you for stopping by my website. As an independent clothing designer and retailer, every single customer makes the world of difference. I truly appreciate your visit.

My love of ethical clothing

came about during my time at Design and Visual Communication School. Once I had graduated, I felt motivated to launch a clothing line that was different from the high street labels I once loved. Instead, I wanted to manufacture high-quality clothing that could work in harmony with the environment, rather than against it. And I’m not alone. We have all seen in recent years the devastating impact fast-fashion is having on the world. The emissions generated from new clothing bought in the UK each month is the same as flying around the world on a jumbo jet 900 times. That’s just insane. We live in a throw-away world, where we buy an outfit for an event and donate it to the charity shop the next day, thinking we’re doing something good. Actually, we’re encouraging more mass-produced garments that are polluting our skies, rivers, oceans, wildlife, and air.

I know that, on my own, I can’t change that.

It’s amazing to see grassroots groups beginning to fight back against the companies who aren’t mindful of the environment, and the progress we are making towards more sustainable fashion. And with Ultra Tee, I get to play my part. After hundreds of hours of research, preparation, and one or two obstacles on my way, the Ultra Tee brand was born. Since 2012, I’ve been designing beautiful clothing that does good for the planet and doesn’t compromise on style, and today the brand is stronger than ever. When I’m not packaging orders or speaking with customers, I’m taking inspiration from my surroundings in Paris and London, spending time in nature and challenging myself to live in an eco-friendly and low-carbon manner. Whether I’m sipping a drink and watching the world go by in a Parisian coffee shop, or getting lost in one of my guilty pleasures at my favourite vintage book shop, I’m always dreaming up new concepts and ideas. My mind doesn’t rest!

An introduction to my brand

Ultra Tee was inspired by the Latin “Ultra” which means beyond, and “Tee” which reflects our core offering. That’s baked into my philosophy. I don’t sell just tees, I only sell ultra tees! When I launched the brand, my mission was and stays simple: to create attractive, premium products that fuse thoughtful design details with soft fabrics that are comfortable and breathable. I knew from the start I wanted to create more than just t-shirts with eco-friendly messages. I sought out a method of digital printing that uses only water-based inks, which are less harsh on the planet and highly resistant to many washings. These inks are tested by Confidence In Textile, are better for your skin and sit deeper within the fabric, allowing designs to “pop”.

When you buy an Ultra Tee, you’re making a long-term investment

rather than something for just one season. As a businesswoman, I understand that we need to do more to protect our planet and that even if every clothing retailer adopted my eco-friendly practices, buying new clothes would still fundamentally harm the environment. That’s why, for every tee we sell, we plant a tree to give back to the planet. Those trees won’t change the world overnight, but in time, they’ll help to rebuild our forests and oxygenate our air so future generations can breathe easy.

Above all else, I want to be honest.

When I set out to make clothes, I didn’t need to watch a video to tell me that dye chemicals could cause harm, I already knew. I take every person, thread, and resource into consideration when I’m creating, and it’s something I’m proud of. Ultra Tee’s ultimate goal is to do as little harm to the planet and make apparel honestly. I could make a joke about how I sell honesTEEs but, let’s be real, we’re both better than that!
Okay, that’s probably enough about me - now onto you! If you’re the market for a new t-shirt, please take a look around my store. Or, if you simply fancy a chat or have a question about eco-fashion, get in touch with me on social media. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
