Back to School fashion: What to wear at university

With schools and colleges across the UK back in action, there are only a couple of weeks to go until Universities open their doors to a new cohort of students for the next academic season. If you’re off to university for the first time, or you’re returning for a second or third year, then you may be wondering what to wear. In today’s post, we’ve put together some top fashion tips.
Choose light and comfortable pieces
The chances are that you’ll be spending a lot of your time at university sitting in lecture theatres, studying in the library and relaxing with your friends in the Students’ Union. Because of that, it’s important that you choose light and comfortable pieces of clothing that are breathable and don’t get in the way. After all, you wouldn’t want to wear a bodycon dress if you’re spending the day in classes, so be sensible and stock up on pieces like jumpers and t-shirts.
The A/W 2018 collection from Ultra Tee is now in stock, so consider us when you’re looking for wardrobe staples to take with you to uni. All of our clothing is manufactured from sustainable fabrics and eco-friendly printing techniques, making it the perfect choice for a day in class.
Prepare for the winter
We might be in September and still enjoying the last of the summer sun, but before you know it, the colder days and nights will be here. Depending on the nature of your course, you’ll likely have a couple of early starts or late nights, where you’ll be walking around campus in the dark, so finding clothing that is warm and protective is key. Invest in some thick leggings, a padded jacket, a winter parka and a couple of hoodies that you can wear with your t-shirts and dresses.
Wear outfits you can take from day into night
If you’re anything like us and want to make the most out of your time at uni, both academically and socially, then you’ll likely go from spending the day in lecture theatres and in the library to an evening out with friends. Finding outfits that you can take from daytime to nighttime. Not only will this save you washing and help you make the most out of your outfits, but it means that you won’t need to go back to your student accommodation before dining and having fun on a night.
There are so many options to consider. For example, you could pair a t-shirt with a blazer, wear a silk top, mix it up with some leather pants, choose a statement dress or wear a bomber jacket.
Find a backpack or handbag you can depend on
With endless class books and coursework to contend with, finding a cute backpack or handbag that you can depend on is key. The world has changed in the past couple of years, and you’ll likely do more of your work on your laptop than ever before, but it’s still a good idea to have a bag to carry everything else around, whether that’s your packed lunch or your beauty essentials.
Shop for bargains and use your student discount
Be sure to register for your student card as soon as possible so that you can take advantage of high street retailers. Such as Urban Outfitters, Pretty Little Thing, Missguided and Boohoo all offer between 10% and 30% discount, as does H. Samuel, Jack Wills, Ann Summers and American Apparel. Shop around to find the best deals, and do not forget to consider charity shops, too, where you can find some great eco-friendly bargains.
